The Company Earns Two Awards of Excellence in 2017 IABC Bronze Quill Awards

The Company recently was honored by the International Association of Business Communicators Houston (IABC) with two Awards of Excellence at the 2017 Bronze Quill Awards Gala, held on June 22. Bronze Quill is the premier awards program for Houston area communicators.

The agency received recognition in the following categories of Communication Management:

  • Marketing, Advertising and Brand Communication – Award of Excellence for Direct Energy’s “Hot Under the Blue Collar” Campaign. With the goal to combat a skills gap that was hindering recruitment efforts, The Company developed a fully integrated campaign, combining creative, public relations, social media and digital advertising efforts to support the “Hot Under the Blue Collar with Mike Rowe” webisode series. The campaign, which starred Mike Rowe from Discovery Channel’s “Dirty Jobs,” was created on behalf of longtime client, Direct Energy, to highlight the rewards, benefits and opportunities of blue collar jobs.
  • Media Relations – Award of Excellence for A.D. Players Theater Grand Opening. The Company spearheaded a media outreach campaign to reintroduce A.D. Players, one of Houston’s oldest and largest resident theater companies, to the Houston community, focusing on the grand opening of the new Jeannette and L.M. George Theater (The George), while also promoting the first play to launch on the new stage, “To Kill a Mockingbird.”

The 2017 Bronze Quill Awards recognized communications professionals, including freelancers and those working in agencies, nonprofit organizations and corporations for their excellence in strategic communication, smart thinking, flawless execution and proven results. The IABC Houston honors were presented in 16 categories.

“Not only was this our first year to enter the IABC Bronze Quills, but also we entered new work for a new client so we were equally surprised and pleased to have our efforts recognized,” said Josh Okun, partner and executive creative director at The Company. “It’s an honor to receive this recognition from business communication professionals in the community, and we are privileged to have a talented team at the agency who know how to consistently create exemplary work on behalf of our new and established clients.”

Winners of 2017 Bronze Quill Awards were scored by two judges using a seven-point global scale of excellence, as defined by communication professionals around the world embracing shared career purposes and principles. Entries that illustrated a truly competent approach to communication planning and execution were awarded a four. Scores above 5.00 received an Award of Merit, while scores above 5.25 earned an Award of Excellence.
